Measuring for curved curtains is easier than you might think. Follow our simple step-by-step guide, and you’ll be ready to order your custom-made curtains in just a few minutes.

Before you get going
Have you decided how your curtains will be fitted?
Before you measure, it’s worth taking a moment to think about how your curtains will sit in the space. A few small details can make a big difference to the final look.
Check if your room has cornices.
Curtains can be fitted to the wall or tucked neatly inside your cornices on the ceiling, depending on the look you prefer.
Check what surface your curtains will be fixed to.
Our curtains can be fixed to most surfaces, but it’s important to check what you’re attaching into before you start. Wall studs and ceiling battens are usually the easiest and most secure fixing points.

Not all curtain tracks are suitable for curved installations.
Curved curtain tracks are available exclusively in our standard designer and motorised track profiles. Half-moon tracks are not available for curved sections. To achieve a coordinated look with half-moon ceiling tracks, select butting tracks instead. These must be ordered through the standard curtain product page, rather than the curved curtain section. The compatible curved track profile will be clearly displayed on the curved curtain product page.

Our curved tracks suit 90° corners with 45° corners available through our Box & Bay Curtains range. Tracks can also be made for multiple or custom-angle corners. For more than two bends or angles other than 45° or 90°, please contact us and we’ll help with measuring and ordering.

Ceiling fit curtains
Create the illusion of greater height with ceiling-mounted curtains. They are ideal for straight-edged ceilings and can also be fitted inside cornices. For the most secure installation, curtain tracks should be fixed into ceiling battens or another suitable structural surface.
- Our curved tracks are designed to fit corners with precise 90-degree angles. If you need 45 degree angles, please navigate to the box bay curtain guide.
- Position your track snugly inside the corner or wrap it around the corner, then choose either 1 or 2 bends. If your track requires more than 2 bends, please contact us directly for assistance.
- Choose sheer curtains for a soft, airy look, or blockout fabrics to reduce incoming light and enhance privacy.
- Select a left stack, right stack, centre opening or multiple openings to suit your windows, doors and access requirements.
- Choose our designer track in white to complement light-coloured walls, or select black or silver to coordinate with other features in your home. Half-moon tracks are not available for curved sections unless separate manual butting tracks are used.
- Select your preferred curtain hem for the ideal finished appearance.
- For taller curtains, choose a longer operating wand or select no wand for a cleaner look.
- Choose between a fixed-flow track, where each curtain panel follows a predetermined path, or a free-flow track that allows the panels to move more freely.
- Create a contemporary, luxurious finish with S-fold curtains, or choose pleated curtains for a more traditional appearance.
- Layer sheer and blockout curtains on a double-track system for added style, light control and privacy. Contact us for guidance on ordering two curved tracks for the same window.
- To minimise the overall projection, consider knife pleats or pencil pleats for the rear blockout curtains.
- Choose from three curtain finishes: just off the floor, touching the floor or puddled.
- Curtains can also be paired with roller blinds to provide even greater control over light, privacy and insulation.
Wall fit curtains
Create a luxurious, designer look by extending your curtains across the full width of your wall. Wall fit curtains are best secured into wall studs for maximum stability, but they can also be fixed to suitable concrete, stone, brick, or tile surfaces.

- Position your track snugly inside the corner or wrap it around the corner, then choose either 1 or 2 bends. If your track requires more than 2 bends, please contact us directly for assistance.
- Add motorisation and choose between wired or battery-powered curtain motors.
- Select sheer curtains for a soft, airy look or blockout fabrics for greater light control and privacy.

Check Your Corner Angles
Check that your corner is a precise 90° right angle. To confirm, place an A4 sheet of paper into the corner—if it fits snugly against both sides, your corner is 90°. The same applies when wrapping your track around an outside corner.

Measuring for 1 corner? Go to Step 2.
Measuring for 2 corners? Go to Step 3.

Find Your Width Measurement
Remember to note whether your curtains will fit into the corner or wrap around it, as you’ll select this option when ordering.
Then proceed to Step 2B for wall-to-wall curtains, or Step 2C for curtains framing your corner window.
To measure for wall-to-wall curtains on both sides of your corner, follow these steps:

Measure from the corner to the left wall and record the measurement.

Measure from the corner to the right wall and record the measurement.
If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice. These two measurements will determine your track width.
For wall-to-wall windows or doors, allow approximately 30% of the track width for a one-way curtain stack, or approximately 15% on each side for a centre-opening curtain.
There’s no need to make any allowance for the curved section of the track or calculate the fabric required — we’ll take care of that for you.
To measure for curtains that frame your corner window, follow these steps:

Measure from the corner to the outside edge of the left window frame or recess and record the measurement.

Measure from the corner to the outside edge of the right window frame or recess and record the measurement.
If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice.
Add at least 30% to both measurements to allow the curtains to stack clear of the glass. These adjusted measurements will determine your track width.
Make sure there is enough wall space to accommodate the extended track width.
There’s no need to make any allowance for the curved section of the track or calculate the fabric required — we’ll take care of that for you.

To measure for wall-to-wall curtains across all three sides, follow these steps:

Measure the ceiling width from the left corner to the left wall and record it.

Measure the ceiling width across the middle section and record it.
-
Measure from the right corner to the right wall and record it.
If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice. These three measurements will determine your track width.
For wall-to-wall windows or doors, allow approximately 30% of the track width for a one-way curtain stack, or approximately 15% on each side for a centre-opening curtain.
There’s no need to make allowances for the curved sections of the track or calculate the fabric required — we’ll take care of that based on your track measurements.
To measure for curtains that frame your left and right windows, follow these steps:

Measure from the left corner to the outside edge of the left window frame or recess and record the measurement.

Measure across the middle section and record this measurement.
-
Measure from the right corner to the outside edge of the right window frame or recess and record it.
If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice.
To allow the curtains to stack clear of the glass, add at least 30% to the left and right measurements. These adjusted measurements, together with the original middle measurement, will determine your track width.
Make sure there is enough wall space to accommodate the extended left and right track sections.
There’s no need to make allowances for the curved sections of the track or calculate the fabric required — we’ll take care of that for you.

Choose Your Split Points (Optional)
For multiple openings, you can choose up to 2 splits and specify exactly where you’d like them positioned. Splits are ideal for sliding and bi-fold doors, making it easier to access different sections.
Select the number of splits required and which side of your corner window they should be placed on. If you don’t provide split positions, we’ll space them evenly for you.
If you don’t require any splits, proceed to Step 5.
For a single custom split, measure from the left side to the exact split position and record the measurement. Make sure you measure along the section of wall where the split will be located.
If the split is on the left section and your curtains are framing the window*, measure from where the track will begin on the ceiling, rather than from the wall edge. This ensures the split position is measured accurately.
*Do not use this method for wall-to-wall curtains. It only applies when framing the window.
For two custom splits, measure from the left side to each split position and record both measurements. Make sure you measure along the section of wall where each split will be located.
If one or both splits are on the left section and your curtains are framing the window*, measure from where the track will begin on the ceiling, rather than from the wall edge.
Do not use this method for wall-to-wall curtains. It only applies when framing the window.*

Find your drop measurement
To measure the curtain drop, follow the steps below:
For a single corner:

Measure from the ceiling to the floor on the left side, in the corner, and on the right side. If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice.

Record the largest measurement.
For two corners:

Measure from the ceiling to the floor on the left, middle, and right sections. If you have cornices, measure from the inside edge of the cornice.

Record the largest measurement.
If the difference between the three measurements is greater than 10 mm, choose a puddled finish.

Choose your preferred finish.
When designing and ordering your curtains, choose from the three finish options below.
Enter your exact measurements only. There’s no need to make any deductions or additions, as we’ll adjust your measurements to achieve the right finish.
If you choose Just Off the Floor, your curtains will be made approximately 5–10 mm shorter than your drop measurement, so they sit just above the floor.
If you choose Touching the Floor, your curtains will gently skim the floor by up to 5 mm.
If you choose Puddling, your curtains will puddle on the floor by approximately 20 mm. For a larger puddle, please leave a note in the comments section at checkout.

Choose your stacking, and track flow.
Choose the wand size you need. As a guide, the longer your curtain drop, the longer your wand should be for easy reach and everyday use.
Next, select your preferred stacking style: left stack, right stack, centre opening, or multiple openings. Consider which side is easiest to access, whether there are any obstructions, and which part of the window or door you’ll use most often.
Finally, choose between a fixed flow track and a free flow track. A free flow track gives you complete flexibility to move and stack your curtains as you like.

Complete Your Custom Curtain Order Online
It’s time to complete your custom curtain order online. During ordering, you’ll be able to select your preferred hem finish. There’s no need to add or deduct anything for the hem — we’ll take care of this for you.
Simply enter the exact measurements you have taken in millimetres (mm), without adjusting them for your chosen finish.

Mark the starting measurement
Use a pencil to measure and mark where your curtains will begin, indicating the position of the top of the curtain track. Use the ceiling or window frame as a guide to keep the track level across the entire width. For maximum support and stability, we recommend fixing the curtain track into wall studs wherever possible.

Find your drop measurement
For single-corner or two-corner windows, measure from where the curtains will hang down to the floor at three points across the window area. For a single corner, measure the left wall, the corner, and the right wall. For two corners, measure the left, middle, and right walls.
Record the largest of the three measurements as your curtain drop. If there is more than a 10 mm difference between the measurements, consider opting for puddling to accommodate the uneven floor level.

Choose your preferred finish.
When designing and ordering your curtains, choose from the three finish options below.
