Installing Plantation Shutters into Brick

Brick and masonry installation uses the same alignment principles as any shutter installation, but the fixings and drilling method need to suit masonry.

Choose the right fixing

Use masonry-rated screws, plugs or anchors suitable for the brick or concrete you are fixing into and the loads involved. Follow the fixing manufacturer’s instructions.

Masonry fixing tools

Mark before drilling

Position the shutter frame, check it is square and mark fixing points through the frame. Keep holes clear of fragile edges where possible.

Drilling shutter frame into brick

Drill accurately

Use the correct masonry bit and drill depth. Clear drilling dust before inserting plugs or anchors.

Frame packing on masonry

Pack and tighten gradually

Masonry openings can be uneven. Use suitable packers behind fixing points so tightening a screw does not pull the frame out of square.

Re-check the panels

After the frame is secure, hang the panels and check alignment before fitting finishing caps.
