The design approach
Start with the room rather than the shutter. Consider wall colour, trim, flooring, furniture and the amount of natural light before choosing the shutter colour and panel layout.
Keep panel lines deliberate
Where possible, align shutter panel joins with obvious vertical lines in the window. Balanced panel proportions usually look calmer than adding unnecessary divisions.
Carry the look through the home
For multiple rooms, repeating the same colour and a consistent frame family can create continuity while still allowing panel configurations to change for different window widths.
